If you can code, you can get work.  Coding is one of the most in-demand skills there is.

Why learn coding?  Because more and more computers are in use in our modern lives.  Computers are in everything from phones to cars to thermostats and refrigerators.  So if you know the language of computers, you will be able to work in the emerging 4th Industrial Revolution – the technology economy.

Coding is telling a computer to do something.  It’s also known as programming.  And there are many programming languages.  This infographic shows the most common ones, what companies use them and why, and typical salary levels.

Even if you don’t want to be a full-time programmer, knowing how to program or code will help you work with programmers and be part of technology teams.  Some are calling it a “gateway skill” – one that opens the doors to new employment opportunities.

There are plenty of places to learn coding – in person and on-line.  Just search for the key word “coding” or “learn to code” and a ton of options will present themselves.
